Synthesising User Videos of Gameplay for MarineVerse VR to Gather Insights and Improve Sailing Experience, Presented to Stakeholders
I synthesised insights from five users who experienced the end-to-end sailing module in MarineVerse’s virtual reality game. The research focused on their ability to learn real-life sailing skills, along with their experience navigating the VR game structure, menus, and overall interface, providing valuable feedback for improvement.
Situation
As someone with no sailing experience, I had to quickly grasp new concepts while also understanding how users were able to learn sailing through the VR module. This challenge allowed me to empathise with users' learning processes, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of the game’s instructional design.
Complication
Not only did I gain valuable knowledge about sailing, which was an added bonus, but I also gathered numerous insights that I was able to synthesise and present back to the stakeholder. These insights provided a clearer understanding of user experiences and informed potential improvements to the VR module.
Resolution
Sticky notes in Figjam from note taking in video observation I conducted for VR user testing, along with the research pack of insights I collated and presented back to the stakeholder.
