Prototyping a New Home Loans Repayment Calculator to Explore Improved Usability and Enhanced Mobile Accessibility for New and Existing Customers
Our home loans repayment calculator had an inconsistent UI, leading to usability issues. Data showed users could compare multiple scenarios but rarely did. A design review revealed mismatched UI between inputs, causing confusion. A mobile-first approach and new features were needed to improve usability and enhance the overall experience.
Situation
While we do not yet have business buy-in to uplift the calculator, exploring prototyping and a mobile-first approach allows me to enhance my skills and craft. This process will help me learn best practices and expand my knowledge of new calculators, ensuring we're ready when the time comes to uplift the tool.
Complication
I created a mobile-first repayment calculator prototype with upfront comparison capability and additional offset account information to help users understand their repayment reduction options. The tool was designed to be product-agnostic, ensuring flexibility for various home loan products and enhancing the user experience.
Resolution
Planning of complex prototyping so that I could wrap my head around how to build the prototype in Figma, along with screen shots of the prototyping and wireframes
